High potential and gifted education
Ignite your child’s potential
At our school, every learner’s potential is our priority. Many students have high potential, and we help that potential to grow into something powerful. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport. We recognise and nurture these strengths early, supporting advanced learners with opportunities and activities to help them grow and thrive.
Our school supports students with advanced learning needs through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
Our students engage with HPGE opportunities across four domains of potential which are outlined below.
For more information, view the TEC HPGE flyer.
Students in the intellectual domain have natural abilities in processing, understanding, reasoning, and the transfer of learning.
For students who demonstrate high academic aptitude and aspirations, emphasis is placed on higher level thinking, processing, understanding, reasoning, and the transfer of knowledge.
Enrichment
- Personalised learning profiles
- Morning and afternoon tutorials
- Stretch program
Extension

The social-emotional domain refers to natural abilities in self-management and relating to and interacting with others.
At our school, we recognise that a student’s social and emotional capabilities are central to their overall success. We nurture these strengths through targeted programs that build confidence, resilience and leadership.
LifeReady Program
All students engage in the mandatory 25-hour LifeReady program, with a significant portion dedicated to The Resilience Project. Through this evidence-based program, students participate in lessons that develop their understanding of the core principles of GEM — Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness — as well as their emotional literacy. These sessions equip students with practical strategies to support their wellbeing at school and beyond.
Leadership opportunities
Students interested in leadership are encouraged to self-nominate for the Student Leaders Team in Term 2. Successful applicants present to their cohort and are elected as student leaders for the upcoming Year 12 cohort.
The Student Leadership Program offers a structured series of workshops and events designed to build student voice, public speaking, communication, leadership capability and a strong sense of legacy within the school community.
Students may also choose to participate in leadership roles through involvement in charity initiatives, whole-school wellbeing events and transition days, providing further opportunities to model responsibility and service.
For more information, contact HT Wellbeing or view the TEC HPGE flyer.
