Support Unit
The Support Unit offers 3 different levels of supportive classroom environments to cater for student's with special needs. We have highly trained and experienced teachers and aides who offer a constructive environment for students to engage in the curriculum to the best of their ability.
Dolphin Class is for students needing a full life skills pattern of study from one teacher with the support of a School Learning Support Officer. These students also have the opportunity of choosing one mainstream subject to assist with integration and developing skills in a specific interest area. This class offers a mixture of theory and practical components for students to enhance their post school options.
Life Skills Class is an integrated model for students requiring extra support and assistance through having a main teacher for four of their subjects. This model enables students to develop a sound relationship with their teacher where they can obtain support and assistance to complete assessment tasks whilst gaining a Life Skills HSC. Students also choose two elective subjects which they can access from the wide variety our mainstream school offers.
The Annex comprises of three behavioural support classes for students with emotional and behavioural disorders. Our main focus is Social Emotional learning to enhance a student's' vocational and employability skills. Students can follow either a life skills or mainstream pattern of study, depending of their need and ability. Mainstream curriculum is accessed through Distance Education, where students can choose from a range of Board Endorsed Courses and receive a mainstream School Certificate and/or HSC. The Annex has close relationship with the PCYC, Youth Employment Services and other agencies on the Central Coast to assist students in all aspects of their development.
